Cassandra Smith is a Milwaukee-based artist and designer known for her intricate, hand-painted deer antlers and sculptural installations. Originally from a small town in northern Wisconsin, she earned her BFA in Sculpture from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design in 2006. Her work explores transformation, using materials like antlers and taxidermy to examine themes of craft and ritual.
Her sculptures have been exhibited at institutions including the Milwaukee Art Museum, Museum of Wisconsin Art, John Michael Kohler Arts Center, and the Society for Contemporary Craft in Pittsburgh. She has completed permanent installations for hotels, restaurants, and luxury spaces across the U.S., with commissions in cities like Minneapolis, Austin, Tampa, and Las Vegas.
In addition to her studio practice, Smith has curated numerous exhibitions and co-founded both the Armoury Gallery and Fine Line Magazine, an international fine arts publication. Her work has been featured by Anthropologie, Bergdorf Goodman, US Weekly, Harper’s Bazaar, Better Homes & Gardens, and HGTV Magazine.
